Midrand

Midrand was an independent town before it was joined to the City of Johannesburg in the mid 1990s. Situated roughly half way between Johannesburg and Pretoria, the major metropoles have spread out further north and south, respectively, and its barely possibly to distinguish where one ends and the other begins. The area was known as 'Halfway House' before it became known as Midrand. Incidentally, Halfway House is still a suburb within the Midrand region. Known to some as the 'Richest Square Mile in Africa' to some as the 'Manhattan of Africa' and to others simply as 'home', Sandton is an affluent area in Johannesburg that has some of the best commercial, retail and residential spaces in South Africa. There is an actual suburb of Fourways, known as 'Fourways proper', which is a small residential suburbia, but most people know Fourways as the grouping of suburbs in Johannesburg's northern region.
